IBS & Food Intolerance Support
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can present in many different ways. Common symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, excess gas, constipation, diarrhoea, or a mix of both. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms, and this list is not exhaustive.
How I Can Help
If you’re struggling with ongoing digestive symptoms, I can help you identify whether food is contributing - and more importantly, how to manage your symptoms without unnecessary restriction.
Important: Many people believe they have a food intolerance, but with proper assessment, discover their symptoms are not actually triggered by food. In these cases, symptoms can often be improved while still enjoying a wide and flexible diet.
My goal is to ensure you receive accurate, evidence-based guidance so you can feel confident eating without fear.
Areas of Support
I work with clients experiencing:
-
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
-
FODMAP sensitivities (including fructose malabsorption)
-
Lactose intolerance
-
Coeliac disease
-
Sensitivity to food additives and preservatives
-
Natural food chemical sensitivities (e.g. salicylates, amines, glutamate)
Beyond the Gut
While some food sensitivities affect only digestion, others can impact multiple systems in the body, including:
-
Digestive system: bloating, reflux, nausea, mouth ulcers
-
Nervous system: headaches, migraines, fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, sleep issues, joint or muscle pain
-
Skin: eczema, hives, itching
-
Respiratory system: sinus issues, hay fever, asthma-like symptoms
A Holistic Approach
If you’re experiencing ongoing symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, constipation, or diarrhoea, food may be a factor - but it’s not the only one.
I take a comprehensive approach that also considers:
-
Your eating patterns and relationship with food
-
Stress, anxiety, and the gut–brain connection
-
Past experiences, including dieting or disordered eating
-
Your gut microbiome health
For many clients, improving their relationship with food and establishing regular, balanced eating patterns leads to significant symptom relief - sometimes without needing strict dietary restrictions.
In some cases, symptoms improve simply by addressing eating behaviours that may unintentionally increase exposure to certain triggers.
The Goal
The best outcome is helping you feel confident, comfortable, and able to eat freely - especially in social situations - without fear of symptoms.
If you’re ready to understand your symptoms and take a balanced, personalised approach, you can book an appointment for a full assessment.
